This week, we’re looking at some common issues that affect the functionality of your aircon. But whatever it is, we can find the right solution! Read on to discover common A/C issues, and importantly, how to fix them!

Why does it feel like my AC isn’t working?

There are a lot of factors that could impact how well your AC works, and when you start learning about them, it can easily become a little overwhelming.

However over time, we have noticed a few common culprits popping up again and again, which lead to air conditioner failures or a system that fails to cool as effectively as it should.

Some potential air conditioner failure causes include:

  • Clogged filters
  • Broken or disconnected pipes
  • Defective thermostat
  • Faulty compressor
  • Wrong size unit for your space
  • An outdated system that has simply reached the end of its life

Why is my AC not as cold as it used to be?

Thermostat issues

When your air conditioner stops blowing cold air, it could actually be because of something as simple as the thermostat.

Try checking what your air conditioning unit is set to, and adjusting the dial if necessary.

However, the thermostat might be faulty. So, just adjusting the thermostat might not fix the problem, which is why you should give our aircon servicing team in Brisbane a call.

Clogged or broken drain

Air conditioners are built to filter water out of the air. This water is pumped out through a drain. If that drain is clogged or compromised in any way, then it will affect your cool air flow.

So what now? This is when you’ll want to get in touch with Tri-Tech to help you out. We’ve seen this issue thousands of times, and can speedily diagnose and repair it. This isn’t something you’ll want to try to fix on your own!

Why is my AC so weak?

Clogged filter

A clogged filter can stop good airflow, simply because the filter is so blocked that the air can’t effectively get through.

There are even some air conditioning units that are built to shut down if the filter gets clogged. This is because a clogged filter can cause overheating, and it can even end up doing damage to the motor.

It’s a good idea to get a professional air conditioning technician to have a look at your aircon if you’ve noticed the air flow has weakened. You’ll want to ensure that the system is fixed properly to avoid any issues associated with overheating and internal damage. Cleaning the filter also results in a more efficient operating system.

Wrong size AC for the room

We often get calls from people who feel that their AC isn’t blowing out enough air.

Sometimes the air conditioner is functioning exactly as it should, but it’s simply not designed to cool a big room or house, thus it feels like it’s underdelivering.

This goes back to the issue of system design, where a system that was too small for the space was installed. While the system itself is operating as intended, it’s simply struggling to cool such a space.

We’ll help you upgrade and replace your air conditioning system with one that can handle your room or home’s capacity.

How do I reset my air conditioning unit?

Resetting your air conditioner is quite a simple process, however bare in mind that it may not fix your problems, and the steps below are general and may not work for your exact system.

  1. Unplug your air conditioner – you don’t want it to be connected to the power
  2. Wait 10-15 seconds, and then plug it back in
  3. Locate the reset button and push it once
  4. If your air conditioner doesn’t start working, attempt to press it ONCE MORE.
  5. If it still isn’t working, call our Mitsubishi Electric air con and Daikin AC technicians

What do you do when your air conditioner isn’t working?

The best thing to do when your air conditioner stops working is to call a professional.

A lot of people attempt to fix their own air conditioners, and it only ends up costing them more money in the long run.

There’s a high chance that you might end up doing more damage than good, which will mean there’s more for our professional aircon technicians to fix when they arrive.

Don’t risk it. Give our aircon servicing Brisbane team a call as soon as your AC stops working.

Should I turn off AC if it’s not cooling?

Yes. You should avoid using your unit if it’s not cooling properly.

There are a lot of things that can affect the smooth running of your aircon. And like we said above, some of these issues can cause overheating and internal damage if you continue to use the air conditioning unit.
